Laser Vein Removal

Safely and effectively remove and diminish unwanted vascular lesions including spider veins on face or legs, angiomas, venous lakes or rosacea.

How Does Laser Vein Removal Work?

Laser treatment is often used for vein removal. A laser is a highly focused beam of light. The light is focused on the damaged vein putting concentrated heat on the vein which makes scar tissue form. This scar tissue closes the vein. The closed veins lose their source of blood and eventually die. The veins then disappear over time.

What is Laser Vein Removal most often used for?

Although laser removal is used for a variety of unsightly vein issues, one of the more common reasons is the removal of leg veins. At Montville MedSpa & Pain Center we safely and effectively treat unwanted leg veins.

What are Leg Veins?

Varicose and spider veins are damaged veins in the legs. They are developed when tiny veins in the legs are weakened. When this happens some of the blood flow in these veins flows backwards and accumulates in the vein. This extra blood puts pressure on the walls of the veins.

Over time, with continual pressure, the walls of the vein weaken and start to bulge. This prolonged pressure causes the varicose or spider veins to appear.

Spider veins and varicose veins can affect more than your appearance. Some of these veins can put you at risk for things such as blood clots or sores on your legs.

Spider veins and Varicose veins can be caused by pregnancy, older age, obesity or injuries among other factors.

What is the Difference Between Spider Veins & Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins are twisted veins and can be red, blue or skin colored. They may make the skin bulge out and are rope-like in appearance.

Most often varicose veins are found on the thighs, fronts/backs of calves and inside the legs near the ankles and feet.

Spider veins are thread like and smaller than varicose veins. These thin veins are usually red and tend to look like tree branches or “spider webs”. Spider veins can usually be seen under skin but do not make the skin bulge and are usually found on the legs or face.

Treating Spider Veins of the Face

Women and men alike  can get spider veins of the face as well as the legs. Facial spider veins are smaller than leg veins. Aside from their red appearance they are generally harmless and cause no pain or discomfort. They can be treated with laser vein removal the same way spider veins on the legs would be treated.
